What is IBA? The International Baroque Academy offers a serious professional training and performance program in which students focus solely on repertoire of the 17th and 18th centuries.
At IBA you'll work with a focused group of talented students and exceptional international teaching faculty who are committed to making the maximum possible impact on your historically informed performance skills in a period of two weeks. You'll perform and you'll study voice or harpsichord/organ, acting and historical gesture, Baroque dance, opera and sacred repertoire, lyric diction, and more.
Students are a mix of upper level college students, graduate school students, and young professionals who have finished graduate school, who desire to train at IBA to enhance their baroque performance skills or to gain more specific knowledge about historically informed performance. Although we work intensively Monday through Friday, the weekend between the first and second weeks of IBA is free for travel and relaxation.
The International Baroque Academy is designed as a premium study experience for a limited, competitively selected group of up to 16 singers and 2 harpsichordists, with better than a 3:1 student to full-time faculty ratio that ensures daily close personal attention to each student. Repertoire is tailored specifically to the individual students who enroll, delivering a high value experience that makes the most of this intensive 2-week immersion in baroque studies for each individual.
At IBA, we embrace your individuality and work with you to recognize your needs and celebrate your strengths. If you come to IBA prepared, ready to work, and invest in the experience, you will not be disappointed!
