FOR SINGER AUDITIONS
Three selections:
- an oratorio aria from the 18th century or earlier
- an opera aria from the Baroque or Classical period
- an aria or art song in German, French, Italian or English (not a translation) from any period.
FOR INSTRUMENTALIST AUDITIONS
Harpsichord/organist applicants, please provide video recordings of the following repertoire, along with the requested IBA application documents:
- a 17th century Italian toccata
- a French suite from the 17th or 18th century (D'Anglebert, Marchand, Louis or François Couperin, Rameau, etc.)
- excerpts from a major work of J.S. Bach (selections from a partita, suite, chromatic fantasy and fugue, etc.)
Lute/Theorbo: One advanced lute student may be accepted, with application by invitation of our faculty. Please inquire at IBA@musiktheaterbavaria.org for more information.
Notes for all:
- When auditioning virtually, please send recent videos that are no more than 1 year old. Singers, please sing your song or aria selections with accompaniment. Recorded accompaniment tracks are acceptable, if it is difficult to record live with your accompanist.
- The minimum age requirement for IBA is that by the time of the program you are at least 20 plus have completed at least your sophomore year of college training. Singers may be up to age 30 (with applications from slightly older singers occasionally approved at IBA's discretion), and harpsichord/organ students may be up to age 35.
