Music Theater Bavaria, Inc., dba Musiktheater Bavaria, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Winter Park, FL. It was organized in October 2010 to own and operate the Music Theater Bavaria (now "Musiktheater Bavaria") summer study-abroad program in Germany established in the year 2000 by MTB's Founder and Director Emeritus, former Rollins College Professor Richard R. Owens (1931-2018).
Our annual summer programs now include Musiktheater Bavaria's 4-week program for students of opera and musical theater in Oberaudorf, Germany, and the International Baroque Academy's 2-week program for students interested in historically informed performance practice, in Winter Park, Florida.
Several of the members of our volunteer Board of Directors provide hands-on management of the programs, working alongside our programs' Artistic Directors, faculty and committed volunteers. All of our resources are devoted to the MTB programs and the costs of providing the incredible array of training that they offer.
We are a small organization whose leaders are passionate about our educational mission. Our focus is delivering the best possible summer Young Artist Program experiences for performers who aspire to a career in classical music or musical theater.
OUR MISSION: To inspire and prepare talented young performing artists for a successful career in classical music or musical theater, broadening their world view through participation in our immersive summer training programs.
